Upcoming and Recent Events

21st International Conference on Retinal Proteins.

14-19 September 2026 - Siena, Italy

ICRP2026 focuses on the Photophysics, Photochemistry and Photobiology of the, arguably, more extended and diffuse biological photoreceptor family of our planet (more than 500,000 known members found in organisms belonging to all kingdoms of life) including visual and non-visual pigments in humans, ion-pumps, ion-channels and enzymes in algae, bacteria and Archaea.

Recently, the conference has been extended to retinal protein enabled technologies that are advancing structural biology and imaging, synthetic chemistry and biology, and neuroscience with application in medical and environmental sciences.

Emerging experimental and computational investigation tools, and the impact of AI technologies will also be discussed. Several prominent scientists have already agreed to discuss their work at the conference.

2nd ESP Junior Meeting

We are happy to announce that the 2nd ESP Junior meeting is officially scheduled for March 26th & 27th, 2026, and it will take place as a free online event dedicated to young photobiologists. Based on the success, enthusiasm and strong participation in the first edition, the meeting has been expanded to two days and incorporates new activities.
The 2nd ESP Junior meeting will offer additional presentation slots, enhanced networking opportunities, interactive roundtable session, and professional development workshop. This expanded format aims to provide an even richer platform for scientific exchange, collaboration, and community building.
This event is open to ESP members and non-members from all over the world, focused for master and PhD students and postdocs. We look forward to bringing the photobiology community together for an inspiring and engaging experience.

Organising Committee members:
Dr Carla Arnau del Valle, Dr Nidia Maldonado-Carmona, Dr Rossella Labarile, and Dr Martina Mušković Lukić

We hope to see you all there!
