The Education and Training Committee of the European Society for Photobiology (ESP) accepts fellowship applications for young ESP members who wish to attend the biennial ESP congress. This opportunity is offered to students and first year post-docs by exposing them to a stimulating scientific environment to widen their scientific horizons by offering the opportunity to meet and discuss with colleagues and Principal Investigators from other laboratories and research groups.
ESP is pleased to announce that also this year a number of fellowships are available to stimulate the participation of young members to the World Congress on Light and Life, which will be held in Barcelona (Spain) from the 25th to the 30th August 2019.
Applications from senior scientists from less privileged countries will also be considered.
The successful candidate will be provided with 100% registration fee waiver, 6-night free accommodation and a free admission to the congress dinner.
Fellowship recipients will be accommodated in single or double rooms at Halls of Residence Penyafort-Montserrat and Ramon Llull of the Universitat de Barcelona.
The Halls of Residence Penyafort-Montserrat is a center that belongs to the Universitat de Barcelona that has more than 50 years of experience. With a top-location right in the middle of the “University Area” (Zona Universitària), in the Avinguda Diagonal of Barcelona, the center hosts students in individual and shared bedrooms. It as well offers all kinds of facilities oriented to the study and the all-round education of our students.
- The applicant will be a student or a 1st year postdoc;
- The applicant must be an ESP member in 2019 (please follow this link to apply for membership);
- The applicant must submit an abstract to the Congress;
- The applicant’s supervisor or sponsor must be an ESP member in 2019.

The deadline for application is March 28, 2019.
The application letter must be accompanied by:
- A Statement of Purpose justifying how travel to this meeting will support future career goals;
- A concise CV of the applicant;
- A letter of recommendation from the supervisor or sponsor;
- A copy of the abstract submitted to the ESP congress.
